El pueblo mapuche es una de las etnias originarias más importantes de Chile. Su fuerte identidad ha encontrado históricamente formas de resistencia y hasta el día de hoy mantienen vínculos con su cultura, a través de maravillosas fiestas que respetan sus creencias, la figura de la machi, encargada de curar mediante hierbas u otros ritos, o el uso de instrumentos musicales como el cultrún y la trutruca, entre otros. 

The Mapuche people is one of the most important native ethnic groups in Chile.  Their strong identity has historically found ways of resistance and kept bonds with their culture to this day through wonderful festivals respecting their beliefs, the figure of the machi, responsible for curing through herbs and other rites, or the use of musical instruments such as the cultrun and the trutruca, among others. 

Sebastián Harambour

Estudia fotografía en el Instituto Profesional Arcos. Trabaja como fotógrafo independiente, documentando una variada gama de eventos, creando reportajes fotográficos y produciendo eventos culturales en la Región de La Araucanía. En época estival colabora para El Austral. Ha realizado varias exposiciones, entre las que destacan La Tirana Ñusta Huilac, en Villarrica. Actualmente, trabaja para Imagen Latente Producciones y en un proyecto fotográfico que retrata la Fiesta de La Tirana, la cultura mapuche y la esquila de oveja, en Magallanes.

He studied photography in Instituto Profesional Arcos.  He has worked as an independent photographer documenting a wide range of events, creating photographic reports and producing cultural events in the Region of La Araucanía.  In the summertime, he collaborates with El Austral.  He has made several exhibitions such as La Tirana Ñusta Huilac, in Villarrica.  He is currently working for Imagen Latente Producciones and in a photographic project portraying the Tirana, the Mapuche culture and the sheep shearing, in Magallanes.
