460 personas han resultado con heridas oculares graves, de las cuales 34 sufrieron la pérdida total de uno de sus ojos debido al uso indiscriminado de perdigones y bombas lacrimógenas por parte de las Fuerzas Especiales de Carabineros. Estos últimos han disparado sus armas directamente al rostro de los manifestantes durante el “Estallido Social” chileno entre fines del 2019 y comienzos del 2020. Esta cifra ha convertido a Chile en el país con el récord mundial de mutilación ocular por parte de Fuerzas de Orden y Seguridad.

Some 460 people have suffered serious eye injuries, of which 34 resulted in the total loss of one of their eyes due to indiscriminate use of rubber bullets and tear gas bombs by Carabineros Special Forces. The latter fired pellets and tear gas directly at the faces of protestors during Chile’s “Social Uprising” between late 2019 and early 2020. This number gives Chile the world record as the country with the most eye mutilation caused by state security forces.
