BASTIÁN CIFUENTES ARAYA A.K.A.
“Periodista Furioso”, es comunicador social, periodista, fotógrafo y artista visual basado en Chile.
Su obra se centra en la realización de proyectos sociodocumentales, culturales y artísticos, con énfasis en la narración y el retrato fotográfico. Asimismo, ha documentado los diferentes procesos sociales chilenos mediante una mirada crítica, patrimonial, cultural y de “documento histórico” para las actuales y futuras generaciones.
Su trabajo fotográfico ha sido galardonado tanto a nivel nacional como internacional, donde ha destacado por sus obras de retratos, sociales, culturales y de contingencia. En esa misma línea, ha sido premiado en cuatro ocasiones con el primer lugar en el Salón Nacional de Fotografía (FOTOPRENSA), en las categorías de Reportaje de Retratos (2021/2022/2023) y personaje del año (2022), además de conseguir una mención honrosa en Prensa (2023), por una fotografía del Presidente, Gabriel Boric. Desde el año 2020, el concurso fotográfico europeo 35Awards lo ha condecorado tanto por el jurado oficial como por voto popular en las categorías de reportaje y retratos, donde fue incluido en los anuarios finales.
Ha publicado zines y dos fotolibros, que son OCTUBRE (cuatro ediciones) e IN-VISIBLES, y ostenta variadas colaboraciones en libros, documentales y series de televisión.
Además, está activamente trabajando como fotógrafo en áreas de cultura y espectáculos, realiza talleres y charlas de fotografía para colegios, universidades e institutos, y escribe en medios musicales, culturales y políticos.
‘Periodista Furioso’ is a social communicator, journalist, photographer and visual artist based in Chile.
His work focuses on socio documentary, cultural and artistic projects, with emphasis on storytelling and photographic portraiture. Also, he has documented the different Chilean social processes through a critical, patrimonial, cultural and “historical document” point of view for the actual and future generations.
His photographic work has been awarded national and internationally, where he has been distinguished for his portrait, social, cultural and contingency works. In a similar vein, Bastián has been awarded with the first place in the Salón Nacional de Fotografía (FOTOPRENSA), in the Portrait Reports category (2021/2022/2023) and People category (2022), and also getting an honorable mention on the Press category (2023) for a picture of the President Gabriel Boric. Since 2020, the European photographic contest, 35Awards, has awarded him in the Reportage and Portraits category, by popular vote and the official jury, where Bastián was included in the final yearbook.
Bastián has published photozines and two photo books, which are OCTUBRE (four editions) and IN-VISIBLES. He also had various collaborations in books, documentaries and TV series.
In addition, Bastián is actively working as a photographer on areas like culture and musical shows, workshops and photo talks in schools, colleges and educational institutes, and writing on musical, cultural and political media.
