“El Chilotazo”

02 de Mayo 2016 | Entre fines de abril y principios de mayo, los habitantes de la Isla Grande de Chiloé se volcaron a las calles para protestar por el derramamiento de desechos orgánicos frente a las costas de Ancud. El hecho provocó una crisis social y económica que derivó a su vez en una prolongada manifestación de los isleños, que bloquearon caminos y principales accesos al territorio insular de la Región de Los Lagos, en el sur de Chile.

May 2, 2016 | At the end of April and beginning of May, inhabitants of the Isla Grande de Chiloe took to the streets to protest the dumping of organic waste along the coasts of Ancud. The event caused a social and economic crisis that lead to a drawn-out protest by the islanders, who blocked roads and main access points to the island located in southern Chile’s Lake Region.
