La Priscilla

Herbert Siggelkow de 62 años se define como el transgénero más conocido de Santiago. Este personaje, de apellido poco común y pronunciación dura, convive en los márgenes de la populosa comuna de Quilicura junto a su esposa Sofía, de76 años, con la que se conoció en la ciudad de Puerto Montt cuando Herbert vestía de pantalón y corbata. Electrónico de profesión, Siggelkow fue uno de los fundadores de las radios comunitarias, pero la coyuntura política de los años ‘80 lo obligó a dejar su trabajo, aquejado por una profunda depresión que lo llevó a deambular con sus vistosos atuendos por las calles y bares de Santiago.

Herbert Siggelkow, age 62, calls himself the most famous transgender person in Santiago. This celebrity, with an uncommon last name that is difficult to pronounce, lives on the outskirts of the well-populated community of Quilicura together with his wife Sofia, age 76, whom he met in the city of Puerto Montt when Herbert dressed in pants and tie.  An electronics technician by trade, Siggelkow was one of the founders of the community radios, but the political situation in the ‘80s made him leave his job, suffering from severe depression that brought him to wander about the streets and bars of Santiago, in his flamboyant outfits.
