Antonio Cañumir y su familia viven en un remoto sector de Lonquimay, en el sur cordillerano de Chile. Esta familia pertenece a la cultura indígena de los Pehuenches, los cuales han vivido en esta zona alejada y aislada durante siglos. Hoy en día, si bien cuentan con luz, caminos y cierto grado de conectividad y salud, siguen siendo los Mapuche más aislados del país, situación que les permite que conserven aún varios aspectos de su cultura ancestral. Este ensayo retrata la vida diaria de la familia durante las diferentes estaciones del año y propone una nueva mirada a este pueblo originario.

Antonio Cañumir and his family live in a remote area of Lonquimay, a mountainous area of southern Chile. This family belongs to the Pehuenche indigenous people who have lived in this isolated and distant area for centuries. Nowadays, although they have electricity, roads and a certain degree of access to the city as well as health services, they continue to be the country’s most isolated Mapuche people. This reality allows them to conserve even today some of the aspects of their ancestral culture. This essay shows the family’s daily life during the different seasons of the year and proposes a new perspective on this native culture.
